Fall Edmonton Woman's Show
October 18th and 19th, 2014
Edmonton EXPO Centre, Hall A
We were super excited to host some "hometown heroes" at the Spring Edmonton Woman's Show this year!
Our Edmonton ladies had the chance to meet and greet Cory and Jody Mitic of last Season's Amazing Race Canada at our Spring Edmonton Woman's Show! They gave a candid and inspiring talk about everything from their experience on the Amazing Race to the effects of Jody having lost both legs on a tour of duty in Afghanistan, and how that further built their friendship & strengthened their bond as brothers.
The ladies at the Show had a great time hearing about the brothers' journey and getting photos taken. We were thrilled to host them!
We 'heart' cheese - and evidently, so did our visitors! They tasted and learned about the many varieties of delicious Canadian cheese made from 100% Canadian milk at the complimentary cheese seminars throughout the show.
Dairy Farmers of Canada's cheese experts came to introduce our guests to local cheeses, pairings and more. Seats at the seminar filled up fast, and so did everyone's bellies!
Our guests joined master hypnotist Joe Francis as he transformed average audience members into stars during his mesmerizing performance. Tying together the elements of comedy and fun, this proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces had the audience rolling with laughter! There was no limit to the crazy things they saw on stage as participants danced, spoke foreign languages, and more.
The hair experts at Kinetic Salon took visitors on a hair adventure with Eufora products. They relaxed in scalp massage bliss, and felt incredible as they left rocking their new cut or style!
The Kinetic Salon professionals also presented Hair Shows up on the main stage! They featured fun and fresh short, long and textured hair styles and cuts, and of course a little daring colour! They showcased colour ideas for spring/summer including playful colour placements using Pantone's Colour of the Year: Radiant Orchid.
Swing your partner do-si-do! Our guests joined the Edmonton & District Square Dancing Association as they cut up the show floor with their moves! Everyone got to watch their members perform their colourful dances and to jump in and participate in mini tutorials for show-goers also!
Ladies (and gentlemen!) got to enjoy a little bit of adventure as they got into the square-dancin' spirit!
We had a great team of Estheticians to pamper our visitors at the Spring Edmonton Woman's Show!
On Saturday, Epic Nails & Spa worked their artistic magic. Our guests jazzed up their fingertips with some gorgeous nail art! On Sunday, we had Halina and her team from Azia Spa & Nail Salon in Sherwood Park beautifying nails with their natural gel and acrylic techniques.
Thanks to both teams for sending our guests home with some seriously stylish nails!
We were very pleased to present Harriet Tinka, Life Coach and motivational speaker. She talked about identifying contributing factors to low self-esteem, and tools for building it up such as focusing on gratitude, shifting our focus, and building a plan of positive self-action!
"Believe in yourself, treat yourself well and anything is possible. The sky's the limit" - Harriet Tinka
The Lurana Shelter Society is a foundation that provides women and children fleeing domestic violence with a first-stage emergency shelter. The Shelter offers a safe, confidential location, immediate crisis intervention, food, clothing, transportation, and child support, and has been operating since 1993. As about 80% of domestic violence situations go unreported, the reality is that these services are very needed.
As a long time and proud supporter of the Lurana Shelter Society, the Edmonton Woman's Show was thrilled to raise funds and awareness for their good cause. We held a very successful silent auction for the Shelter, and raised awareness by speaking with many of our visitors. Thank you to everyone who participated in the silent auction and supported this excellent cause!
We had the pleasure of once again hosting Dr. Ronna Jevne at this year's Spring Show, and wow are her presentations powerful!
She invited us to notice and influence what she calls "the insanity" of our lives. It was a session of invaluable tips on 'quieting the mind' and managing our fast-paced lifestyles.
Dr. Ronna Jevne is an absolute joy to listen to, and it was great having her at the Show again this year.
Happiness expert Elizabeth Manuel says there are some simple ways to adopt an "attitude of gratitude" and become a happier person. Visitors joined Elizabeth as she shared five fun and proven ways to increase your happy factor on the Main Stage on both days of the Show. It was an educational and uplifting experience for all who attended.
For our guests who were 18+, there was the opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine in the Wine Lounge. It was the perfect opportunity for the ladies to relax and reconnect with their girlfriends - a glass of wine in hand, great company, and giggles! Cheers!
