Edmonton EXPO Centre, Hall A
Details on the Spring Edmonton Woman's Show will be released as they become available, so check back often! Before spring comes, we want to relive the most fabulous moments of the Show as we share them with you. Sit back and enjoy!
Our Main Stage was packed with presentations that made our audience laugh & cry!
Tracy Moore's sincere and inspirational talk about the challenges modern women face touched our visitors. With candid humor, Tracy opened up to the audience about her own experiences with finding balance, the challenges of being a mom and also staying fashionable! We were thrilled to welcome Tracy as our guest speaker and were all blown away by her warm personality. Thank you, Tracy!
The REALTORS® Association of Edmonton Stage was a hot spot of fun all weekend! Hosted by Jake Ryan from HOT 107, audience members went head to head with REALTORS® in a test of home buying & selling knowledge in Trivia Pursuit: Real Estate Edition! There was plenty of laughter, learning, and prizes as this exciting game show brought tips and information on buying and selling homes to the contestants and audience as it entertained! The REALTORS® Stage was a definite hit, and a big thank you goes out to the audience, contestants, REALTORS®, host, and especially the REALTORS® Association of Edmonton for all their hard work!
Many good times were had in the Sherbrooke Liquor Store Wine Lounge! Attendees (18+) were able sit back and enjoy a glass of wine while taking in the fantastic line up on the Main Stage. In the up-scale comfort of the lounge, they were able to take a break with friends, chatting and laughing together. A quick pop over to the Sherbrooke Liquor Store booth allowed them to purchase bottles of wine - great impromptu way to prepare for the holiday dinner party season ahead! And with pairing tips and opinions from the experts at Sherbrooke, you know those gift bottles are going to be a hit!
Watching the hottest fall trends and learning how to wear them in everyday life made the Kingsway Fashion Shows some of the biggest hits of the weekend!
Low winter temperatures can present unique fashion challenges, and our attendees were thrilled to see how attractive and funky warm winter outfits could look. Throw on a scarf, pick up a bag, and put on your biggest smile, and you will never want the cold months to end!
Our guests escaped the cold and immersed themselves in the warmth of a sunny day as they watched the hottest beach styles featured for the upcoming tropical vacation season. Beach dresses, covers, bathing suits and hats brought the summer back for a few moments in October!
Real fashion for real people! John Chwyl, 'The Fashion Guy', has proven once again that with just a bit of effort and a little fashion knowledge, anyone can rock their best look with ease. His "Fashion Guy Seminar" gave the audience the know-how, tackling specific questions about style, dressing for your body type, and where to source the clothes that John recommends & wears. As a special treat, he warmly welcomed the winner of the Virgin Radio Contest, Brittany K, and host Kelsey from The Kelsey Show to the stage, and worked his magic right on the spot! The audience went nuts for the final reveal, as Brittany and Kelsey rocked their new looks on the catwalk!
We were so excited to welcome Canadian actor and star of the tv series North of 60, Dakota House, to the Woman's Show! Dakota talked about issues that youth face today and the importance of self-love when it comes to sharing love and helping the young ones feel valued. When talking about the power and importance of the simple words, "I love you," Dakota walked around the audience encouraging everyone to look into a hand mirror and say these words to their own reflection. It proved to be a challenging exercise! Thank you, Dakota, for sharing your beautiful message!
A Woman's Show is never quite complete without fashion, make-up, and hair! Our visitors were able to enjoy the whole package right there on the show floor.
As no look can be complete without the right haircut or style and make-up, our ladies had a chance to play with both! Make-up artists from Hudson's Bay created gorgeous smoky eye looks in their booth, while senior MC College stylists did great haircuts & fresh styles at our busy Blow Out Bar.
We had everything for the discerning fashionista!
If there is one difficult-to-navigate topic where there are still a lot of taboos, it has to be sex! Our sex and relationship expert, Elizabeth Manual, made talking about sex fun and helped to challenge the taboo by discussing the benefits of a healthy sex life! In a very down to earth way, she shared her message: "Want more health? Have more sex!"
Thank you, Elizabeth, for strengthening our "sexual literacy" & giving our visitors insight on how to improve their health & relationships.
There is one word for Teddy Anderson's Hoop Dance performance - awe-inspiring! We were all moved by Teddy's gifted performance and his love for sharing the traditional art of Hoop Dancing, bringing the spirit of peace and unity to our show! Using up to 30 hoops at a time, this guy barely broke a sweat doing this intricate and physical dance! The accompanying traditional music & drumming made this experience even more authentic. Thank you, Teddy, for bringing vibrant First Nations rhythms to life on the main stage!
Helpless tears of laughter were seen at the Main Stage as Scott Ward seemed to "take over" the minds of brave attendees who dared to experience hypnotism first hand. Judging by the grins on everyone's faces, Scott successfully shared his enthusiasm for hypnotism! Learning that one of our own staff members just couldn't be hypnotized made this performance a bit more personal for us.
Dr. Ronna Jevne and her presentation, based on the book Tea for the Inner Me, gave our guests an opportunity to take some time for self-reflection. She talked about the importance of stepping outside the demands of daily life by going within. Introducing tools such as journaling, tea, and even photography, she encouraged us to ask questions, such as, "Are you happy? Do you like yourself? What's holding you back from being happy?"
Thank you, Dr. Jevne for sharing your passion for tea, journaling, and how to nurture a healthy inner emotional life! This is one amazing woman.
The Main Stage was not the only hot spot at the Show! Our Life Balance Stage featured dancers and engaging fitness instructors who made the ever-challenging process of improving one's body look both fun and enjoyable. Charmed by the sensual undulations of the belly dancers or energized by intense and challenging fitness demos, our audience was inspired to expand their idea of fitness!
Our Show Floor was just as exciting and engaging as our Stages. Our visitors LOVED the live painting demos by local artist Giselle Denis, whose vibrant art contributed to a beautiful & feminine aesthetic on the Show Floor. The ladies also had the chance to experience setting their inner artists free by learning how to paint intuitively. Giselle's workshops gave our visitors an opportunity to create something beautiful based on their own experiences & vision.
Is there anything as enjoyable as shopping in good company? Our exhibitors made sure all of our visitors felt welcome. Educating about their products and services, meeting new people and having fun and meaningful discussions with our visitors, our vendors created a friendly atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. Add a wide selection of products and services specifically for women, and it was the perfect day out for the ladies! From healthy foods and skincare to jewellery, bags, shoes, and lingerie, we had a little something for everyone!
Thank you to all exhibitors and our guests who contributed to the strong community spirit of our Show!
We were very proud to support our 2013 Charity of Choice: The Lurana Shelter Society. We'd like to extend a big thank-you to Sister Lucinda and the volunteers at the Lurana Shelter Society for their hard work in support of Edmonton's women and children who are fleeing domestic violence. The generous donations of our attendees and exhibitors allow the shelter to continue with their devotion to provide a safe place to people in need.
Thank you, everyone, for your generosity! A special thank you to Giselle Denis for her beautiful artwork created right at the Show Floor. It was donated to Lurana Shelter Society's Avenue of Hope Gala and will be auctioned off in April.
Our sincere gratitude to Maggie David Flowers for their contemporary floral arrangements. They truly made a huge contribution to the Show’s atmosphere and aesthetic. All white, elegant and exotic, anthuriums and orchids were the perfect final touch to our main Stage and Wine Lounge. And the front door pieces were breath-taking!
We would like to thank Maureen and Johanne from MoJo Design for their quick and smart tips on how to make a house stylish and cozy with just a few simple steps. Our ladies left inspired to get to their homes ready for winter!
Thank you to everyone at Mojo, including Leigh and Laura, for all the wonderful design flourishes they added around the Show! The front door displays, as well as the set they created on the spot for Tracy Moore's stage presentation, blew us away.
A warm thank you to our wonderful photographer, Stan Mah, for catching so many exciting, touching, and memorable moments of the Show. Thanks everyone for smiling for the camera! Check out even more photos from the Show on our Facebook page.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes out our emcees, Kat Brandon, a.k.a Miss Kitty Sparkles, Jake Ryan from "Nights with Jake Ryan" on HOT 107, and Jacqueline Greenly from CISN Morning Show, who kept our attendees informed about all the exciting features and presenters we had at the Show. We enjoyed their sharp intros and intriguing questions!
A special thank you to All Weather Windows for their interactive and informative presentations! Who knew learning the nitty-gritty of renovation could be so fun! All Weather Windows representatives showed that the trickiest decisions are easier to make after a good laugh.
