As always, you can expect to find shopping opportunities, a range of products and services, information, and resources, alongside exciting speakers, cooking demonstrations and more at the Edmonton Woman’s Show!
We were thrilled to have the hunky & handy, savvy & sauve "Property Brothers" as our guest speakers for the Fall 2011 Edmonton Woman’s Show. It was standing room only as twin brothers, Jonathan and Drew Scott, gave us tips, tricks and a dose of reality when it comes to finding our dream homes. These two have a knack for finding down-and-out fixer-uppers and turning them into perfect properties for their clients, and do just that in their hit TV show "Property Brothers" which airs on W Network.
Depending on your budget, your dream home may not come ready to use – it may take some vision, creativity and a renovation budget to polish it up to your expectations! With Jonathan being a licensed contractor, and Drew a seasoned real estate agent, they were able to share a wealth of knowledge, and answer all the burning questions fans had about buying, selling, fixing up, and their TV show. These two handy hunks also made themselves available for autographs and pictures after their stage presentation each day.
This past Fall we chose two Charities of Choice to support - The Lurana Shelter Society and Goodwill Industries of Alberta. We had a blast putting on the Handbag Handoff & Sale. Many generous Edmontonians donated hundreds of gently used handbags at our donation drop off locations to support these two very deserving causes. These new-to-you handbags and purses were then put up for sale at the 2012 Fall Edmonton Woman’s Show, with all funds raised split between our two causes. Thank you to everyone who donated and/or purchased a bag!
Anyone who donated a bag received an entry form for their chance to win a $250 shopping fling from Kingsway Mall. Congratulations to Kathryn M. who won that prize. Happy shopping!
The REALOTRS® Association of Edmonton Stage was all about getting you in the know about real estate, and was a crowd favourite. Jacqueline Greenly from the CISN Mornings played host to Trivia Pursuit: Real Estate Edition where contestants were able to win prizes by answering skill testing questions. Expert REALTORS® were up on stage to give some hints and hot housing tips.
We were thrilled to welcome John Chwyl from Kingsway Mall back to the stage at the 2012 Fall Edmonton Woman’s Show! The ‘Fashion Guy’ walked us through all the latest and greatest in Fall trends, preparing us to look HOT as the temperature cools down! The Kingsway Mall Style Council joined him to give show-goers a fashion guide on the ‘must-have’ colours and styles. On top of all this fashion excitement, one lucky winner each day won a $500 gift card to Kingsway Mall and a style consult from the man himself, John Chwyl! Congrats to the two winners – send us a picture of the fabulous new outfits you bought!
There is something intriguing about the art of hypnosis. It was no wonder hypnotist Scott Ward had a packed crowd for his shows! Whether you got up on stage to become one of the stars of the show, or just sit back and watched, everyone had a great time with Scott Ward. Laughter could be heard across the Show floor as he worked his magic and had people showcasing all sorts of hidden talents, including hip dance moves, awesome lip-syncing, and elephant riding skills!
The Fall Show featured many amazing speakers and enjoyable entertainment. It’s the best of both worlds – fun and informative!
Dr Ganz Ferrance made quite a lasting impression on visitors to the Show as he gave the straight goods – no psycho-babble or victim-making to be found in this presentation! Continuing on the idea of home improvements, he brought ideas on how to pour a solid foundation for your life, so you can build as high as you want on it! Show-goers learned how to supercharge their lives by putting themselves first, were given the tools to help lay strong and firm groundwork, and informed on how the result of these steps is actually being able to give more back to the people in their lives. Dr. Ganz is an international speaker, author, entrepreneur and registered psychologist, and audiences were pleased with his "Tweed-free" style!
The Kitchen Stage was sizzling as Executive Chef for Sage, Christophe Ithurritze, cooked up amazing culinary creations. His beet salad was absolutely incredible. Those lucky enough to catch one of his shows were treated to taste of his creative dishes, and they were smiling ear to ear! Sage Restaurant at River Cree Resort & Casino is a classy and unique dining experience, and show-goers were thrilled to get a sample-sized experience of it!
Dr. Geraldine Matus and Megan Lalone BSC, CHT, HRHR, CPM gave us the low down on "Coming Off the Pill & Reproductive Health." Their insights and knowledge on these subjects were both impressive and helpful.
"Building Strong Foundations in the Community – A Panel Discussion" struck a chord with people for a variety of reasons. Featuring powerful speakers including Cst. Helen Black and Cst. Mona Gill from the Edmonton Police Service, psychologist Dr. Ganz Ferrance, psychiatrist Dr. Ekisa, Sister Lucinda Patterson from Lurana Shelter Society, happiness economist Mark Anielski, happiness ecologist Laura-Belle Robinson, and Amber Niemeier from the YWCA, this discussion entailed ideas on how to build a sturdy community. Topics touched on included the way our neighborhoods are built, figuring out what community is, defining happiness, ending bullying and domestic violence, and getting involved in all ways including through careers with institutions like the Edmonton Police Service.
No need to check your eye-sight – you weren’t seeing double emcees at the Show, but rather twin sisters Kat Brandon and Maria Orydzuk, who co-hosted the Edmonton Woman’s Show stages. They were an absolute hoot! With a strong combo of humour, energy, and sophistication, these two had audiences enchanted!
The Fall Edmonton Woman’s Show had so many fun options for visitors to take part in. A few fun examples are:
The Edmonton Woman’s Show Farmers’ Market was a great opportunity to purchase local items and included delicious items such as cookies, Mediterranean dips, honey, and more!
The European Institute of Esthetics & MediSpa were treating guests to complimentary mini manicures and massages. Guests were ecstatic to be pampered, on the house! They were also doing Photo Imaging to show you what your skin could look like 5 years from now.
Things were getting hot over at the Edmonton Firefighter Burn Treatment Society booth as local firefighters were on hand selling and signing calendars! These guys are always a good time, selling calendars to raise money for their cause. This booth is the highlight of the Show for many attendees, and we can see why!
Freebies! Everyone loves freebies! And there were many to be had at the Fall Show. Upon arriving, guests were treated to samples from Old Dutch, John Frieda, Kitchen Basics Chicken Stock, Jergens, and coupons for Zax Bruise Cream. Throughout the Show there were many tasty treats to be had, including chocolate fondue samples from The Melting Pot.
Pure Café & Juice Bar served up scrumptious options for lunch including fruit smoothies, butter chicken wraps, Italian pastries, coffee, and more! Let me tell you, this food was incredible!
The Beauty Lounge and Chrome SpaSalon had amazing deals on hair care products, and were doing hair cuts and styling right on site! What’s better than finding out the newest hair trends in a magazine? Seeing them created right before your eyes!

Birds of a feather flock together! That was certainly the case at the Edmonton Pet Parrot Association booth. Visitors of the Show had the opportunity to take a break from people and experience a little animal interaction with beautiful birds such as a Macaw, Cockatoo, and African Gray.
